Fishing is the best loved sport in the country. Whether you spend most of your time fishing riverbanks, lakes or from the shore, everybody jumps at the chance of sea fishing on a boat. The best part of sea fishing is that virtually everything you catch is edible. There is nothing more rewarding than the process of hunting for the freshest food you can get.
If you have never fished before, or fancy a few hours of fun fishing, a trip out to catch mackerel is always a winner. Rods and all the equipment you need for mackerel fishing are available to hire on the boat. You can take your catch home with you, we can help you prepare it. A catch in the 100’s of fish is easily achievable when the mackerel are in season. However, we do encourage people to just to catch sufficient for them to eat.
The soft banks off Brighton are ideal for catching flatfish. The chalk gulleys of the Brighton area are the breeding grounds. Plaice is the most common flatfish to be caught, but dab and sole are also possible. In addition the brightly coloured and well armoured gurnard is common. These are now found on the menus of many top restaurants. Seasonally black bream can also be caught around the rocky outcrops as they come in to breed.
Further afield the wrecks of the south coast provide a home to cod, pollack, ling, wrasse, whiting, bass and pouting. Wreck fishing is probably the most challenging and rewarding when all goes right. Deep sea fishing yield the biggest fish and the biggest fight. For me, like many cod is the best tasting fish and is the prize. However, this is for the experienced fisherman. For this reason I will only take the experienced off-shore fishing.
